Movie Season Is Upon Us

I love this time of year: the morel mushrooms are all over the place (and God, they're good) and the hype for summer movies is at full throttle.

My former boss isn't intrigued by the movie selection this year, but man, I'm hyped. (Okay, not the in same sort of hyped I was last year at this time, when I was literally counting the minutes until I got to see Sweet Jack again...but there can be only one Pirates of the Caribbean. Or three, maybe four if they work out the details. Whatever.)

Speaking of sequels I'll toss my money at, Indiana Jones is coming back to the big screen. Granted it's been almost 20 years and lately, Indy has been looking a bit worse for wear, but they're bringing back Marion, too. And there might be a "secret baby" (all grown up), being that Indy's sidekick in this movie is a 21 year old guy who has some "personal business" with Indy. That is one secret baby plot I can get behind. I've been dying for Marion and Indy to have some babies, and just the THOUGHT that might be what's going on has me excited! He's still got the hat and the whip...and that devilish look about him. AND he's an archaeologist! Hello, the older you get, the more interested he is in you.

This weekend I'll be seeing Made of Honor, which Patrick Dempsey has become my favorite movie leading man. Loved him in Enchanted, and I think he'll be just as enchanting here. This weekend, What Happens In Vegas also will be out--and though I'm sure it's not going to win any awards, it still looks amusing. Campy and funny...and the same plot device we've seen in about three other Ashton Kutcher movies, but whatever. Looks amusing. Anything to distract me from my dreary life.

In June, I've picked my "Get Out of Jail BAD Movie" Movie: The Love Guru. I've already raved about this at the ship, because it features, at some point, Justin Timberlake in a speedo and sporting a pornstache. I'm so there, baby. I don't care how bad it is, it looks funny.

Of course, Adam Sandler's summer movie comes out like a week before him (maybe two), and it looks like it has some merit as well. Politically incorrect, cheap laughs, and I'm sure an ending where he saves it from being a completely themeless movie.

So it's clear I'm going to be spending a lot of my time at the movie theater this summer--which is good because I don't have AC anyway. What movies will you be seeing and what are you excited about?

Oh dear. I went to see the new Harold and Kumar movie on Sunday with Matty. It was so politically incorrect and hilarious. Not as funny as the first one, but still LOL funny.

I would also like to see Made of Honor.

I dunno what else I want to see.

I want to see Made of Honor, but I doubt that'll come to fruition.

I am so out of the loop with movies it isn't even funny. I do want to see Indiana Jones. I swear it doesn't even look like Harrison Ford aged. Maybe when they zoom in for the close-ups I'll be able to see the wrinkles!

We'd like to get the kids to see the first 3 Indy movies first before we take them to see the new one. Or at least #1 and #3 (The DH isn't real fond of Kate Capshaw and refuses to waste another 90 minutes of his time on her!)

I'm going to see Speed Racer at the Imax this Friday! The DH is a huge Speed fan. He's beside himself with excitement. I'm looking forward to the popcorn!

Sin, we're seeing Made of Honor on Friday, probably the 7 pm showing. Will you be available?

Di, you're welcome to come to our Made of Honor outing! :)

Irish, the 2nd Indy movie is my least favorite too. More to do with the LIVE snakes they ate though than Kate Capshaw. She was kinda funny.

I can't decide if the 1st or the 3rd movie is my favorite. I love them both for different reasons.

By the way, guys, I'm so impressed you guys check out this blog still. It's been almost 3 weeks since I put up a blog...and the last few have been crappy. I love you guys. *LOL*

I'm not uber-excited about anything but I'm jealous Irish gets to see Speed Racer in Imax. I wanna do that. Iron Man and The Dark Knight are on my list as is the Indiana Jones one.

There's a new animated on called Igor that looks really good. Made of Honor is pretty much a rehashing and I'll wait until that one hit video. Which the way things go these days, should be in about a week. *rolls eyes*

And thanks to everyone else for getting here first and making me look bad. Dang it.

I don't know how you could NOT get excited about the movies this summer. I mean, maybe it's because I was an 80's child, but INDIANA JONES is coming! And Narnia, and Speed Racer and oh, I still have to see Ironman. Oh Terri just reminded me of Dark Knight!

I'm going crazy already. I have to set up a weekly babysitter.

Hellion- doubt I can make it Friday.

I am super excited to see the Indiana Jones movie. I used to watch them all the time when I was a kid. I wanted to be Indy when I grew up or at least the girl version of him. I am definately going to that movie this summer.

I also want to see the new Narnia movie, Mamma Mia (a musical with Colin Firth, I love Colin Firth!), and many more. I do want to see Made of Honor too. It looks cute.

I want to see the new Narnia movie too. I think that comes out next weekend.

No AC? I couldn't survive. There's too much concrete in NJ, it's humid and miserable, even when it isn't that hot.

Saw the trailer for mamma Mia which looks like lots of fun (saw the play). Would love to see Iron Man, Indiana Jones...but I can't remember the last time I sat in a movie theater.

My son dressed up like Indie one Halloween. He was obsessed. I used to like HF until calista and the earring.

Hellion,

I would love to come to your outing, although I think the gas cost would outweigh the ticket. But the memories would be priceless. :D
